Drawing a deck from scratch
How one red A turned into a whole system of suits, ranks and backs.

Our own identity started with one red A drawn on the back of a printing proof. A year later it is a whole deck: four suits, thirteen ranks and a card back.
Rules from the table
Every suit is drawn from the same few curves, so a diamond and a heart feel like they belong together. The A is the only serif in the system, which is why it stands out.
Using the deck
We use the suits to sort projects, rooms and even the order of a pitch. It sounds like a game. It is mostly a way to keep things simple.
